Hello Sligo Mountaineering Club! The Sligo/Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team are always looking for able members to join us. There have been plenty of your group who have also found a lot of fulfilment in being a member of our team, and I would ask that when you meet again you might raise the idea of some of your members joining us as well. You are well aware of the commitment, but we’d like to have as big a resource as is possible in the event of an incident, as well as the regular training activities we can offer. Please pass this on to your members,
thanks, Heidi (Seceratary S/LMRT)

Hi
Last week I had the opportunity to walk @ Benwhiskin southwards along Annacoona and stumbled upon an unmarked cross and wondered if anyone knew its history and reason for being there? If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.

Volunteers Required for Sunday!!!!
Its very short notice I know, but the Mountain Rescue Team is looking for about 6 or 7 willing bodies, to help as ‘casualties’ on a Party Leader course in Gleniff Horseshoe, this coming Sunday, 8th August.. They would have to be available form 8am to 1pm., and be at the Benwhisken Centre at 8am that morning. ‘Casualties’ will be receive a briefing as to their ‘injury’, and be required to be only 600 or 800m off the main road or track. (Miners track at Glenniff).
If anybody is willing to give their time, they can phone with myself 087-980-7410. (Fiona).
Hi Im looking at going to sligo for the weekend, Can someone tell me if there is any crags by the coast pref with some wild camping near buy? I may also be looking to do some surfing so want to stay close to the coast.
